Spring is in the air, with flowers and plants beginning to thrive. It’s still cold outside, but bringing nature indoors has added lots of warmth into our new home.
Simple Joys is a blog series where I share the small things in life that help us slow down and enjoy the moment. Read all Simple Joys posts here.
Wildflower Posies
Bringing nature into our home makes me so happy. Especially when it’s a result of a fun morning spent gathering wildflowers with my daughters. Our house backs onto a bush reserve, where we can take our pick of flowers and pretty branches growing wild just beyond our back fence. This posy consists of wattle, daisies, bottlebrush and flowering gum.
My Self-care Kit
When family and work gets a little too much, how do you unwind? I’ve discovered it doesn’t take much to give yourself a little self-love. For me, all it takes is a quiet moment once the kids have gone to bed. I grab my headphones and my crochet project and sit on my favourite chair. Put on a face mask for some well-earned pampering and crochet away, whilst listening to a podcast or audiobook. Bliss.
Are you keen to crochet with me? I’ll be hosting a crochet challenge in my free Facebook group this month. Come join in or just enjoy watching us crochet away. Request to join Sewing and Crafts for Slow Living Facebook Group.
Plant Babies
I’ll admit it. I have a thing for plants. They soften the harsh lines of a new home and improve air quality. Plus, they look really cute, so what’s not to love? Once you have a thriving house plant, it’s not long before you can propagate it to add to your collection. Or give it to a friend.
My Chinese money plant in our living room had a little baby, so I repotted it and now it sits on my bedside table.
Natural Light in Rainbows
The light in my home office has a rainbow hue. It’s caused by the glass lourvre windows next to my desk. Umi, my three year old has helped me rediscover the magic of rainbows (and unicorns)!
