I am going on a holiday back to Japan in September, so I have been doing some research into which sewing pattern books to add to my holiday shopping list. The five listed here are all new releases this year on my Top 5 list. I’m sooo excited! Do you already own one of these books? Or have plans to get one?
You can actually view a few pages from each book at Amazon. If you’d like to purchase online, please refer to my tips on buying from Amazon Japan.
1. Sweet Dress Book |
Yep, it’s the latest release in the Stylish Dress Book series. The cover says you mix up patterns to make 23 styles. The photos have the same sweet clothes, using amazingly gorgeous fabrics. I really really want this one! |
2. Nostalgic Closet |
As soon as I read the title, I knew this book was right up my alley. The dresses, blouses, vests and aprons in this sewing pattern book are all vintage inspired. There is even a wedding dress pattern! |
3. Kawaii (Cute) Felt Sweets Shop |
This book is dedicated to making sweets all out of felt. From cakes, ice cream, pancakes, donuts and even a cup of cappuccino, the photos look absolutely adorable. |
4. Let’s Start Sewing |
According to Amazon, the patterns in this book are all loosely fitting and flattering. The patterns look easy and simple, and the instructions seem to be presented as lessons. Might be a great book for someone new to DIY fashion. |
5. Daily Sewing Book |
A very stylish collection of dresses, coats and jackets by Quoi? Quoi?, a sewing duo who also run many sewing classes in Japan. Photos of patterns I’ve seen of this book look so Frenchy chic, just like the authors’ name! |
