For my niece, Molly’s 5th birthday, I decided to knit her a cotton scarf to keep her wrapped up for the upcoming winter. She has a grandmother who is highly skilled at knitting, so I didn’t try to make her anything too fancy. She already has beautiful handmade cardigans and socks and other advanced knitting garments, so I went for the cute factor with this simple scarf 🙂
I was inspired by Jessica from Zakka Life’s Pretty in Pink Scarf post to add red pockets and applique apples on this white cotton scarf. I also took inspiration from another blogger, Hello Sandwich’s quirky wrapping ideas to bundle up the scarf and a set of Play-Doh into a colourful gift. I chopped the top off a brown paper bag and wrapped a thick strip of pink scrap paper around the middle. The pom pom is made from a plastic shopping bag and for the final touch, I cut out cute little vintage pictures from a children’s book I bought ages ago from a thrift store for 50 cents. I had so much fun putting this present together! Of course, Molly took no interest in the wrapping, and was super excited about the Play-Doh only…
